This is a basic farm chore list I have posted in the barn. In the event that I can’t get home to take care of the animals, this will get them by until I get home. I have a list of people I can call to help if I am unexpectedly detained. And a couple of souls willing to help if we go on a vacation. I try to update it regularly, and I add some extra stuff for vacation.
Farm Chores:
- Feed Yellow Cat – 1 or two handfuls from clear container in feed barn – if you are in a hurry, put her food dish in the hay barn.
- Feed horses: Oats are in 5-gallon buckets in the feed room. Treats are in marked can by the feed. Feed about 2/3 small coffee can of oats each – feed Candy in first stall, Chance in second – you don’t need to tie them.
- They haven’t been pooping much in run-in or dry lot, but if they did, toss it over the fence. Manure scoop is hanging in the hay barn.
- Hang two hay bags on the fence if they have pretty much emptied them. It may take a day or two, because they have hay in the field feeder, but there’s no real grass left so they need lots of hay for cold nights. I will leave bags filled and hanging in the barn. If you need to refill, add two to three flakes per bag.
- Put lots of hay in the black bin in the aisleway. It may look full, but add at least a half a bale each day or more as needed.
- Fill the water trough if needed, I don’t usually let it get more than half empty.
- Close the barn doors- leave space in hay barn door for Yellow to get in and out.
- Check that the electric fence is turned on and all gates are closed.
- Text me with any questions. I may or may not have service in the mountains.
- If you have an issue at the farm and can’t reach me, please call our neighbor, TXXXXX at (304) XXX-XXXX.
- JXXXX PXXXXXX is our vet (304)588-XXXX / (304)893-XXXX / (304) 694-XXXX.
Thank you so much for helping! I will be more than glad to return the favor anytime you need help!
